The Art of Hanging Wall Art

One of the most important parts of bringing together your home decor is to arrange your art work, mirrors, and you wall hangings.

These are the small aspects that most of us would ignore. Arranging your artwork in a certain way can make or ruin the look of your home decor.

So here we are…

Giving you a few tips on how to hang your artwork correctly!

So?

Does it feel good to take a look at these different styles?

For a deeper understanding, let’s take a look at each of these organizational patterns in detail.

When we talk about the Minimal Look, we have 3 styles to take inspiration from.

  1. 3 for the Win: Two Small Art Works + One Large

This is great way to pull focus onto one large piece of art, but not ignoring the two small art works. This pattern works well for a classic inspired home.

  1. The Couple: Related Art Works of the Same Size

Art works that are related with each other or are of the same size can be used here to create a harmonious look. It’s a modern way of displaying art, and creates a certain balance to the room.

  1. Balanced Grid: The Classic Way to Hang 4 Art Works

What could be better than having four beautiful pieces of art hung together? Well, how about changing up the equation to add in two mirrors diagonally to enhance the entire wall. This is all you will need to make the room pop.

Up next is the Eclectic Style of arranging art work to match with your home decor.

  1. Old School: More Space between each + Small Art Works

If you have ton of art work, small mirrors, picture frames of loved ones, and all those personal display items, the old school arrangement is great. With space between each piece, all of them will get a chance to shine.

  1. New Age: Less Space + Varied Sizes

In an idea situation, you want these art works to belong to the same style, era, or artist. Apart from an exception, most of the pieces should match with the last one. This is what will bring together your home decor.

The third way to go about is by Following the Axis and it’s super easy to do so.

  1. Internal Axis: A Single Axis for Alignment

Pick a single horizontal or vertical axis to follow and arrange your art works around it. This creates a proper structure for your pieces to shine.

  1. Edged Axis: The Outer Edges Should be Aligned

When you follow the outer axis, it becomes easy to create a focal point in the room. No matter the sizes of your art works, the outer border remains unhinged creating a put together kind of look.

  1. Spiral: Internal Alignment that Adds a Flow

Imagine this, 4 pieces of art work, with an axis that goes is perpendicular, and the art works create the effect of a pinwheel. Easy, right? Here you want to make sure that the color scheme used in the art works is similar.

Lastly, there’s the Grid Pattern that everybody loves!

  1. Mondrian Way: Asymmetry + Hierarchy

Don’t let the name complicate things for you. The concept behind using the Mondrian way of placing art work is easy. Two rules that should be kept in mind. One, the art works should follow asymmetry, and yet be hierarchal.

  1. Classic Squares: Equal Grid Form

A self-contained grid makes a good space for displaying your art work. The only drawback in this pattern is that you’re going to have to have the same size for each piece. Understandably, this cold be tough to get.

  1. Varied Grid: Symmetry + Hierarchy

A variation in the grid is something! In spite of following the grid, you’re not. By adding symmetry to the design, you create a space that feels cool and composed.

There you have it! Isn’t it cool to now be able to create your ideal way of displaying art work?
